This family, descended from the Mayburys of County Kerry, Ireland, lived in Fall River, Massachusetts. Joseph Maybery (1832-____), was born at Landore, near Swansea, in February 1832, his father being Joseph Maybery, Engineer of Swansea. He was a tinplate manufacturer for a number of years, and was a Justice of the Peace for the County of Carmarthen. He was a Member of the Carmarthenshire County Council, held the positions of Chairman of the Llanelly Local Board of Health, and was a Member of the Llanelly Urban District Council and the Llanelly Harbour Commissioners. Joseph Mayberry (1852-____), was the youngest of five children of John Mayberry and Mary Reed (or Reid) of Llangyfelach, Glamorgan. Joseph married Mariah Llewellyn. They owned a cobbler shop in Clydach in 1880. By the mid 1890s they had relocated to Blaengarw, where they had another cobbler shop called J. Mayberry (Bristol House) Shoemakers.
